The Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run is the world’s oldest trail race, traversing majestic alpine terrain and dipping into canyons all the way from Olympic Valley, California, to Auburn. Now in its 53rd year, the race is considered one of the most prestigious ultraraces in the world—offering just 369 runners with the chance to try to beat the grueling 30-hour cutoff. Follow along as this year’s talented pool of runners tackle demanding backcountry terrain (only accessible by horse or helicopter), quad-killing descents and sleepless miles. Be sure to give your favorite toesock-wearing Injinji Athletes some love on Instagram.
