Karlton Yates Meadows

Age - 33

Hometown - Seaside, CA until 18 Dec. 03, then San Angelo, TX

Years Running - 8 yrs.

Where do you run?

I currently train on the roads of former Fort Ord, Ca and along the coast and bike trails of the Monterey Bay. My swimming is done at the Monterey Sports Complex and the pool at Lemoore Naval Air Station.

Testimonial/Experience with the tetratsok?

I have been blessed to move my toes out of the substandard living conditions of the cramped sweaty rundown one bedroom shacks that we call tube socks, into the luxurious mold-free condominiums of tetratsoks. I no longer have to stuff cotton between my toes in an attempt to create separate and ventilated living conditions for my toes. I immensely enjoy the enhanced circulation and the cool comfortable feeling of the tetratsoks: I wear them for everything from running, cycling, driving and weight-training to assisting with the US Navy's Fitness Enhancement Program.

My Short Term Goal?

Is to continue improving my performance by increasing my training volume; specifically in preparation for the Motorola 1/2 Marathon in Austin, TX on 15 Feb. My long term goals are to use my participation in tri's and road races to inspire more everyday type of people to take part in athletic events. And I would like to look into and establish an Injinji run club in England where local runners would train together in preparation for such races as the London Marathon, the Madrid Marathon, the Paris Marathon, the Athens Marathon and the Berlin Marathon. I plan to return to Southern Spain to win a place on the podium for the Triathlon Villa De Rota in September 2005. I would Also like to win my age group for a 1/2 Ironman by 2006.

Philosophy/Motto Goals?

"I have strength for all things through Christ who empowers me."

Family life?

I am married and my wife of 14 1/2 years has found a new passion....running in tetratsoks.

Running/Tri Clubs you attend?

Although I am currently training independently, I have received enormous support and assistance from Monterey's very own Jeselyn's Bicycles.

Favorite foods?

I love grilled chicken Caesar salads: honeydew, santa claus and cantaloupe melons; cliff bars; soy ice cream and Grovestand Orange juice, Lots of Pulp.

Favorite Race?

My best race experience happened on the island of Souda Bay, Crete-Greece; where I won the Jingle Bell 5k in Dec 1999 and then started off 2000 with another wind in the Lose Holiday Pounds 5k in Jan.

Worst Race?

My worst race experience happened the coast of Monterey Bay...Big Sur International Marathon April 1999. It started late and I didn't get to go to the porta potty before the start of the race.
